1 rolesResume tips for staff/principal level professionals
Tell the story of initiatives you drove from idea to shipped result across multiple teams. Staff-level work is defined by its cross-cutting nature — your resume should show that clearly.
Include the "before and after" for your biggest projects. What was broken or missing, what you built or changed, and what the measurable outcome was. That three-part structure is the strongest way to present staff-level work.
Mention your role in technical strategy. If you wrote the roadmap, defined the migration plan, or killed a project that was heading nowhere — those decisions are worth more than any single feature.
Keep it to two pages even at this level. You are not writing a CV. Pick the work that best represents the kind of role you want next, not an exhaustive history.
